CURRENTLY LOVING

Hi y’all. Woodbridge is the 1970s brick house I bought in mid-December 2021. It had been sitting empty for a while and needed a lot of love, and my partner Caleb helped me renovate it. Today it’s Gorge Getaway, our pet-friendly home near New River Gorge.

It opened in spring 2023 as New River Gorge Retreat and took the Gorge Getaway name after I sold the first house that had it. Here it is room by room, the way we found it next to the way it looks now. If you missed it, the full before tour is here.

What we did

  • Took down the back porch
  • Painted the kitchen cabinets and put in new countertops
  • New floors throughout
  • Remodeled the bathroom
  • Took out the wood stove in the living room
  • Painted every room
  • Painted the exterior

Caleb and I did the work ourselves.

This is the room people ask about most. We kept the cabinets and painted them. It took a coat of primer and more than one coat of paint, and I posted every step in my stories. The countertops and the backsplash are new.

Staying at Gorge Getaway

If you’re here because you’re staying at the house, welcome. The kitchen cabinets you’re cooking in are the same ones from that first before photo. You can see Gorge Getaway and check dates here, and if you see something in the house you like, it’s probably on the Gorge Getaway shop page.
