  • Explore new ideas and styles in design and creativity for the pure passion of it.
  • Share new design ideas and inspiration with others.
  • Visualize where I want my home to go without being tied to what I see as possible at the moment.

Why I want to design my dream home.

When I purchased my house in June of 2014, I was so excited to start a full-on renovation. You can read more about that here and here. However, I didn’t realize how much work it was going to take to get this place livable. We worked on it for over 10 and a half months. Knocking down walls, re-sheetrocking, re-insulated, adding a bathroom, and a kitchen, refinishing the floors, etc. By the time construction was over and the house was livable, I was done, burned out, I needed a break. The break lasted about three years. Unfortunately, I never got to the fun part of the project. In the beginning, I was so excited about building my dream home. Vision boards were created, design and DIY ideas floated in my head.  But, in the end, my inspiration and visions left during the drudgery of the renovation.

As soon as the renovation was complete, I started a restaurant. That project took me away from the home projects for two years. I focused solely on the restaurant.

Now, when I think about my house, I love it.  I don’t mind where it is and have been very comfortable here for the past four years, I am blessed.   Nevertheless, it is still missing some of the fun final touches that I was so excited about doing when I purchased the house. Now, in 2019 life has calmed down, and I am excited to start tackling the fun projects around my house. This series is all about dreaming and setting intentions for the future of this house.

My goal for the series

My goal with this dream home design series is to design my dream home. I am going to design it without restrictions.  No setbacks, no time constraints, no budget, or anything else. Just for fun and inspiration. For me, 2019 is all about growing and reaching for those big goals. I feel it is time to do that in my house as well. I want to start visualizing where I want this home to go and not be tied back by what I see is possible right now.

For the next eight weeks, I will be showcasing my dream home design for each room of my home. Every Monday, I will share another room, another design.

To get this series started today, I am sharing a few of my inspiration photos. Photos from around the web of the interior’s that I love, and am inspired by. Are you ready to come along for the ride?  Let’s design a dream home.

Get into dream mode and let’s get inspired.

I already have a lot of white and natural wood tones in my house, and I love it!  My house feels very serene and peaceful and I would like to keep that feeling throughout.  I feel that it fits with the style of the house as well.

As for me, my style is eclectic.  I mix and match different styles throughout the home.

I like one of a kind finds, antiques, pieces with a backstory.   I blend touches of rustic, traditional and even a little farmhouse. Lately, I have found that I am being drawn towards a few mid-century modern influences in the home as well.  I am excited to start playing with a few new ideas for the house…stop by next Monday to check out the first Dream Home Design for my master bedroom.

Until then, catch up on my home renovation project.  Take a tour of my house, including the Before + Afters.

I also have a few confessions to make about about my renovation, you can read all about those in this post.

Finally, you won’t want to miss the progress updates during the renovation.  Check these out!  You won’t believe how far we have come.  Update from Auguest 2014.  Update from December 2014.
