Welcome to my Christmas House Tour 2018. Thanks for sharing!

It is official.  The halls of my sweet 1927 Bungalow are decked for the holidays and it’s time for a Christmas House tour!   Last weekend I finished making all of the handmade Christmas garland.  Above all, it was this project that inspired me to get the ball rolling on the rest of the holiday decorations. As  mentioned in this post, Simple & Stylish Christmas Decorating Ideas, I wanted to keep it simple this season.

In fact, over the last several years I have slowly paired down my decorations more and more.  This year, the highlight was my handmade garland, which was used sporadically throughout the house.  Specifically, it can be found on the mantle in my living room, and in the master bedroom. Again, I used it over the dining room window and finally above the kitchen window.  In addition to the Christmas garland, you will find touches of red sprinkled throughout the house.  Now, are you ready for the tour?

In the entryway, I simply added a silver pitcher of fresh greenery to the entry table, hung a wreath from my chalkboard sign, and added a touch of red to my old antique chair with a holiday pillow.

The red buffalo check pillows stole the show in my living room this holiday season.  I got them from a cool, local gift/home decor shop here in Fayetteville called The Fox & Hound Fayetteville.   Sharon also has an eBay store where she sells her unique home finds.

Furthermore, I also added a little bit of greenery to my handmade barn wood shelf and filled a glass bowl with decorative pine cones for the coffee table.  A large lantern with a candle sits beside the sofa.   On the other side of the living room is my gas burning fireplace with a solid oak mantle.  This year, I decorated the mantle with handmade garland.  In keeping with the natural theme, I hung pine cones across the front of the garland using rough, natural twine.

I kept the dining room simple and organic by draping garland over the window. Again, I hung pine cones from the garland and cut fresh greenery for the table.

It’s Christmas in the Master Bedroom!

This may have been my favorite room to decorate this year.  On the bed, I traded in my white duvet cover for a warm, dark gray coverlet from Ikea.  Afterwards, I cozied the bed up by adding festive Red and White Buffalo Check pillows, a fun deer pillow and a sweet bright red Ho, Ho, Ho pillow.

Across the room, the mantel was dressed with fresh handmade garland and little white twinkle lights.  I switched it up this year and hung our stockings in the bedroom as well.  As I mentioned in this post, one way to make a room cozy is to add soft throws.  Likewise, in the master bedroom I incorporated a warm, rich red plaid blanket over the chair.

Finally, to finish off the master bedroom, I dressed the mirror with a festive holiday wreath.  I even added a touch of fresh greenery to the master bathroom.

We’re rolling around to the back of the house…

A few classic touches were added to the tv room and guest room.  In the tv room, a cozy red plaid throw and a festive holiday pillow were added to the sofa.  This room also got a touch of greenery on the side table.

In the guest bedroom, a quiet pewter cup holds fresh cut greenery.  I wanted to keep it understated in this room.

Last stop on this Christmas House tour, the kitchen.  This room was so much fun to decorate for Christmas this year.  In general, this room has a rustic, farmhouse vibe to it.  In keeping with that feeling, I kept the decorations organic and natural.  I started with a simple wreath of greens and pinecones hung from the window.  Next, I dressed the kitchen table with a crystal vase of fresh greens and holly.  Finally, I wrapped up the Christmas decorations in this room with handmade garland over the sink window.

All in all, I am so happy with the way the Christmas decorations came together this year.  I don’t know if you noticed, but there is one traditional Christmas item is missing from this Christmas house, did you notice?  It’s a Christmas tree!  I didn’t put one up this year.

At first I thought I would miss it, but I feel like the house is so festive without it, I may skip it this year.  I have little white twinkle lights on the mantels in the living room and bedroom.  In addition to that, I added them to a basket full of sticks in the dining room.  With all of the festivity, I don’t feel like it is missing.  Have you ever gone without a Christmas tree?  There is still time, I may decide to add one, if so I will surely share!

Are you finished decorating?  Leave a link below to your decorations. I would love to see them!
