It is the time of year when I want to make my house cozy. Below are a few of my cozy finds to help you snuggle in at home for the colder weather.
I think you will agree with me that late fall, early winter is the perfect time to start “nesting” at home. When the days get shorter and colder, all I want to do is house makeover in front of the fire with a good book and an extra-large, comfy throw. It is the time of year when I want to cozy up the house. Today, I am sharing simple tips on how to cozy your house cozy this winter. I have also included a few of my favorite “cozy” finds online to help you bundle up and nestle down this winter.
How to Make Your House Cozy Step 1: Throws
Throws are the greatest accessory when looking to create a cozy space in your home. Whether made of cashmere, faux fur, tartan plaid, wool, or knitted. You can find many options that will be just the right fit to create a cozy nook at home. They are meant to be well-used. Light in weight they can easily travel with you room to room. A throw gently draped over an armchair or sofa cushion signal that a room is prepared to offer the maximum comfort to guests.
Simple ways to incorporate throws in your cozy home decor.
Drape it across your sofa.
Store them in a cute, oversized basket, like One Kings Lane.
Neatly folded and hanging over the back of a chair.

How to Make Your House Cozy Step 2: Fluffy Pillows
Big, fluffy pillows should not only be used as decoration in a home, but can be used as the ultimate cozifier.
Don’t just neatly arrange them on the sofa, toss them around the room. To make a cozy room, add them to nearly every upholstered piece in the space. Heck, they can even be tossed on the floor. Keep it casual; pillows are the greatest cozifier in a space. Think of all the spots you would like to curl up and take a quick winter’s nap. To that spot, add a big, feathery pillow.
Toss them across the sofa.
Add them to unexpected places like this dining room table bench.
Prop them against the wall.
Pile them on the floor.
Throw them on the bed.
How to Make Your House Cozy Step 3: Add a Woven Basket
Oversized woven baskets add a rugged texture to any space. Use them beside the fireplace to store firewood, beside the sofa to house extra throws or pillows, or even beside the front door. It is the perfect place to store winter boots or hats and gloves when it’s cold outside.

How to Make Your House Cozy Step 4: Add a Little “Bling”
In my opinion, every room needs a little shimmer, a little bling, the icing on the cake. A cozy room is no exception. Nothing fancy, understated is fine. Many of the “cozy” ideas mentioned throughout this post have been simple ways to incorporate texture and warmth into space. A little bling adds some contrast to that texture. Bling is sleek, minimal. It adds a nice contrast to the soft, warm, cozy items above.
During the winter months, I prefer to keep add bling with warm tones. Think soft, worn gold, rose gold, or iron metals. Shimmering candlesticks are a simple way to incorporate the “bling.” You only want to add a touch, just enough to offset everything else. It doesn’t have to be a metal. I would also consider a glass vase with natural sticks a bit of understated bling. Anything to seal the deal put the icing on the cake; you know what I mean—final accessories.
Warm tone candlesticks will add just the right touch of bling.

A recycled glass vase with simple greenery will also do the trick.
