CURRENTLY LOVING

Merry Christmas! Turn on the Christmas music and come on in for a little bit of holiday cheer from the bungalow.

Merry Christmas!  I hope you are ready for the holidays because it is officially here.  This year the hustle and bustle got to me and here it is, Christmas snuck up on me and I am finally sharing a few of my favorite photos of Christmas from the bungalow.

I have learned over the years that I prefer simple, natural Christmas decorations and this year was no exceptions.  Fresh greenery, natural fruit and warm woods are my favorite ways to make the home festive.

This year, I was most inspired by the simplicity of Scandinavian design and the warm glow of dried oranges.  I chose dried oranges as my main element of design this year because I have several touches of orange in the house and felt it would make a beautiful accent color instead of using traditional red and green.

Are you ready for the tour?  Let the Christmas decorating begin…

In the living room, I added soft, green plaid cushions to the sofa to warm it up for winter.  I paired it with a fun, bold deer head pillow and a warm, knobby textured pillow.  I will leave these on the sofa for the rest of the winter.

Next, I brought in my galvanized watering can and filled it with fresh pine and eucalyptus.

The Christmas Mantel

On the mantel I used fresh pine, pine cones, whole oranges, lemons, and red apples.  I added tall twig candle sticks on the left to bring in height and texture.  Once the mantel was decorated, I added  adorable cream knit stockings at Home Goods ( I haven’t been able to find the exact stocking, this one from Amazon is very similar.

A Natural Christmas Tree

This Christmas, I kept the Christmas tree simple and natural (like the rest of my decorations).  I turned this old antique canning crock into a Christmas tree stand.  Next, I made a dried orange slice and cranberry garland. Finally, to top off my handmade Christmas, I took an evening to make these adorable Inspirational salt dough ornaments for the tree.  **You won’t believe it, but I came in the living room one day to find my rascal of a golden retriever ate 2/3 of my salt dough ornaments off the tree!  **

Dried orange garland on the Christmas tree adds a simple festive touch to any Christmas tree. Try this inexpensive way to decorate for Christmas.

** She looks innocent enough, doesn’t she?**

I focused most of my Christmas decorating in the living room this year. In the bedroom, I added a simple fresh garland to the mantel with lots of candles.

In the dining room, I kept it plain with a fresh green centerpiece and a basket with Christmas lights and ornaments.

Finally, in the kitchen I added a bucket of fresh eucalyptus and a few votive candles filled with cranberries and water.

Unfortunately, I ran out of time to photograph the other rooms this year. As I am sure you can relate, the holidays blow in too fast and are here and gone in a flash. I would like to finish with a Happy Holidays to you and yours!  I hope your Christmas is filled with laughter, family, friends and love. Merry Christmas!
